Captain's Log stardate 77510

1. Today I learned about the history of Manaiakalani and the meaning of the hook, which is a metaphor of hooking learner into digital technology.
2. I learned the importance of google groups as opposed to google contacts. brilliant tool that saves members from tediously adding new contacts onto list. I reinforced my matauranga about organising my google drive.
3. the google doc share scavenger hunt exercise can definitely be used with my learners in Te Reo Maori. I learned about voice writer and using google docs explore to search for what I want without leaving my doc.
4. I have always wanted to know how to create attractive infographics to create whakatauki in my class and at home.

So, in summary, I was quite scared about the course, especially the Intensive part in the course title, but at the end of the day I feel like I've accomplished something and will strive to get as much from this course as possible for my kura's sake.

Thank you to our coaches but also to our classmate/unofficial tutor Kyle for helping me transfer photos from my phone to my rorohiko which was my initial objective. Nga mihi e hoa.

Thanks for sharing what you learned today. It's great to read that so much of what you learned will be useful to your teaching practice. Lots to toha toha with your Starfleet Command.

  2. Kia Ora Dion,
It's always a positive when you have achieved the objective (transferring photos), and a bonus when you go away with more. I look forward to following your learning journey over the next 8 weeks.
